Gregory Dale Schultz

Gregory Dale Schultz (1963-2022) was a prolific liturgical composer who gave his full heart to pastoral ministry. Known for his ever generous and fatherly spirit, Greg gave voice to the all embracing, forever present God, using composing as a way of communicating that dynamic and faithful love to countless students and community members.

As shared in his obituary, Greg graduated from Fairfield University in 1985. He received his Masters of Divinity and Master of Sacred Theology from Yale Divinity in 1995. Greg began his career as a liturgical musician at a young age. He led many church choirs including Our Lady Of Lourdes (Gales Ferry), St Pius X (Fairfield), and Fairfield University. He continued his service professionally at Notre Dame (Durham) and Saint Agnes (Niantic).

Greg served the community of Santa Clara University as a member of the campus ministry, where he was the Director of Liturgy and Music for 25 years. Along with his passion for leading music, Greg wrote countless pieces of music for his choirs, family, and special liturgical events. He scored plays for the theater department at SCU. He was also passionate about serving those around him, including the LGBTQ+ community. He counseled and supported many people along the way. His music continues to guide countless voices in drawing ever closer to our loving God.
